Survivor tales

Wearing a black knee length skirt and red shirt, with medium high heels, Tosin walked out of †ђξ Cisco Academy around 8:00pm. Waved goodbye to Emmanuel, the instructor and course mates whom she barely knew. They were all male so she dint hang around for too long after class.
With a sigh she crossed †ђξ road in Mushin area of Lagos. She did not know †ђξ rough area well and hated †ђξ fact †ђά̲̣̥† her classes were extending so late into †ђξ night. It had to be done †ђά̲̣̥† way because they all went to work during †ђξ day. CCNA exams were getting close and everyone wanted to come out with high grades. Academy exams had been taken and Tosin was proud of her high marked scores.
Shaking †ђξ thoughts off, she hailed a bike not trusting herself to take a bus lest she get kidnapped as †ђξ area was notorious for that.
“Bike…, okada”, she shouted to †ђξ bikes passing by.
A dare devil rider stopped in front of her.
“Where?”, He said
“Toyota Bustop, I hope you know †ђξ place?”
“Yes now aunty, why I no go know †ђξ place. Na, N150 oh” sensing she was a JJC(a new person in †ђξ area)
“Haba, its not far from her joor. Its N100 I have oh.”
†ђξ bike man rode a little forward but on sensing she wasn’t going to beg him he stopped and asked her to Hop on.
†ђξ journey began a bit over medium speed, but †ђξ fact †ђά̲̣̥† her father was waiting for her in †ђξ office and getting out of †ђξ area was topmost on her mind, she didn’t mind.
As they approached †ђξ roundabout of Ladipo road †ђξ man was practically flying with his bike.
“Oga slow down oh, we would get to where we are going abeg” she shouted as he nearly hit a car coming from †ђξ left of †ђξ bend.
“madam wetin na. Na today I just dey ride okada for this lagos?”, He hissed
“And so what, be careful and slow down abeg”, thinking of stopping him and getting off as goose flesh rose on her arms and neck. She couldn’t wait to get to her destination. She stared forward with clenched teeth and toes, looking left and right as she saw a empty trailer drive past, far ahead of †ђξ same roundabout.
†ђξ bike man increased his speed again after initially slowing down. She didn’t like it and †ђξ trailer was now very close to them. There was a bump on †ђξ tarred road with sand beside it with a little space left between. †ђξ bike man had decided he just couldn’t let †ђξ trailer go first and just as she was about to scream “STOP”
†ђξ last thing she heard was “gbriiii gbash, gbosa” with †ђξ sound of tires close to her head, †ђξ clanging of †ђξ trailer above and blood draining from her body. People were screaming all over and in those split seconds she thought
“am I going to die today?”
Then †ђξ sound of her bones breaking reached her ears.
“Daddy is waiting for me. Who will tell him what happened?” She thought. With all her energy and †ђξ grace of †ђξ Lord, she used her right hand to raise †ђξ left hand from †ђξ floor and rolled over.
Women screamed nearby “haaa †ђξ trailer just missed her head”
“Wow, this is a miracle”
Trying to sort her thoughts, she knew she still had hope but her body was weakening fast. She had to get out of here and talk to someone she knew. All her things were scattered across †ђξ road as she managed to wedge her body by a roadside kiosk. People had begun to gather in †ђξ dark, crowding her and all exclaiming she began to fall asleep.
“Let us help her massage †ђξ hand and legs or take her to a pharmacy” uttered by a man who started to try to hold †ђξ broken hand †ђά̲̣̥† had doubled in size and bleeding.
She shouted “No, No, d☺n’t touch it. Shaking †ђξ sleep from her eyes, so this was ♓☺w accident victims died from overzealous onlookers trying to apply their own form of first aid killing †ђξ person in †ђξ process.
Remembering all she had watched on Medical detectives, †ђξ fact †ђά̲̣̥† her mother is a nurse and she a red cross member, she kept on saying no till no one tried to touch her again.
“Please my phone” she managed to say as someone said “haa, if it were a man, we won’t mind him oh. We will massage †ђξ hands and legs and take him to †ђξ pharmacy”.
No one could find †ђξ phones for a while and it never occurred to her †ђά̲̣̥† they could have been stolen until one who had been shining a torch to her body and sometimes trying to see up her skirt said “give her †ђξ phone” to another man standing behind her. They had actually stolen †ђξ phone thinking her to be dead or dying soon as †ђξ devil is a liar. She hit †ђξ re-dial button not caring who but guessing her last call was to her father.
“Daddy”, she sobbed weakly. “I’ve been in an accident, please come get me quickly”
“WHATT!! Where are you?”
“I d☺n’t know, let me give someone to tell you where” as a woman gave descriptions.
After about 15minutes Tosin’s father arrived †ђξ scene of †ђξ accident with a colleague visibly shaken and thanking them all carried her off to †ђξ vehicle. Later to be pumped full with morphine continuously for hours to reduce †ђξ pain.
It wasn’t my time, I SURVIVED 🙂

This is my story, me D’Almeida Oluwatosin and this happened 2years ago October 11th 2010, around 8:20pm.
Thanking †ђξ Lord for his grace and mercy, because I stood another chance. Dedicated to all those who have survived accidents and who have lost their lives in various accidents around †ђξ world but mostly in Nigeria and on †ђξ popular Okada due to over speeding and onlookers overzealous behaviors. Many a person would still be alive today.

To write this without appreciating some people would be bad. Thank you to all my family members (D’Almeida P. Bolaji, D’Almeida F. Titilola, D’Almeida Ebun O.) including extended. I can’t go without saying a major thank you to a friend who stood by me through it all from day one Adeola Aboyade-Cole. Thank you all so very much for your Love and care

Different levels of CRAZY

If a person should ask you if you are crazy right now. Of course you would say “NO” If †ђά̲̣̥† same person asked you if †ђξ people who killed †ђξ four young men in ALU are crazy. Your “Yes” would be extra loud and clear.
I am angry at †ђξ moment as I write this post. Angry †ђά̲̣̥† things like this keep going on right under our noses, while we sleep, in front of us and nothing keeps getting done about it.
Not too far back, we had a lady who was raped by some young men who filmed it and put it on †ђξ internet and instead of proper investigations to be carried out. †ђξ police claimed she solicited it(†ђξ rape). WHATT!! A young lady solicits to be raped?? What if it were their own little girl? It would not be alright then. We would probably hear †ђά̲̣̥† ‘some armed robbers were caught and shot while trying to attack and case CLOSED.
Another was a video of a little girl of about 11 raping a boy or about 6 or so.
A video of a little boy(not more than 10years old) who was beating up †ђξ baby and other little children who were kept together with him and †ђξ guardian who was to be taking care of them was on †ђξ phone not paying them any attention. While he slammed their little heads on †ђξ walls, short or giving them brain damage. What was done about it? Nothing!!
A well known pastor who was filmed slapping an underage girl or two and †ђξ case has been swept under †ђξ carpets.
A lady who was beaten by some Naval officer just for not allowing them to over take her or some other silly crime and stripped almost naked while †ђξ video reached CNN. Thankfully her father took †ђξ case to court and got a bit of justice for her.
Senseless hacking of people in †ђξ Northern parts of Nigeria just because some crazy group of brainwashed fools have been told, others(supposed infidels) should not Live. I ask ‘WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO TAKE ANOTHER LIFE?? A *fucking* useless and worthless NOBODY believing †ђά̲̣̥† 70 Virgins await you after committing such outrageous crimes on your fellow man. Only HELL FIRE awaits you.
A young well dressed man was filmed being tortured to death; what was his crime? He supposedly stole a gold chain from someone and he was beaten and battered, then burnt to death and a car voluntarily climbed over his body. Are all †ђξ people there ‘Normal’?? From you who gave them a tire, to you who offered matches, to †ђξ one who gave petrol, to you who lit †ђξ match stick,to even you who stood cheering on “beat him, kill him” to you who stood, to †ђξ car driver and filmed †ђξ whole incident and uploaded it to youtube, you †ђά̲̣̥† watched it and was laughing while watching someone being MURDERED in cold blood and you who sat somewhere thinking of ♓☺w to kill someone but never eventually doing it. YOU ALL are culpable and are GUILTY of †ђξ crime. CRAZY people
Now what brought about me writing this is †ђά̲̣̥† no one has written about all of these together and they keep happening over and over again. We human being have a short memory span and tend to push things to †ђξ back wall. We get angry for a short while and its over till †ђξ next one happens.
As a guy you slap a lady just because she insulted you. Trust me you need your sanity checked.
As a policeman or soldier, a civilian(insults you), bus driver (doesn’t give you N50), pedestrian or even fellow colleague of yours doesn’t do things †ђξ way you like and you fire your weapon at Him just because you can. YOU ARE CRAZY.
You slap your wife or beat her up just because you can. Something is wrong with you.
Not just †ђξ people in asylums belong there, in fact some of them behave better than people roaming †ђξ streets today.
The tragedy struck recently, when another set of 4 young promising men were murdered in ALU( a university campus) over one accusations made but not confirmed while people joined to beat them and kill them without getting details. ♓☺w long would we sit back and allow this Rottenness take over †ђξ society. †ђξ government is not alone to blame because there is no security measure in place to safeguard its individuals. YOU TOO are to blame
NOTE †ђά̲̣̥† not every time you hear ‘Oleeee, thief’ means †ђξ person actually stole anything it might just be a CRAZY person. If you must go there at all to analyze, let †ђξ issues be heard and authorities come in, d☺n’t take matters into your own hands.
A neighbors son a few years back was almost burnt to death for some silly bustop argument and while they were beaten up, thankfully they were rescued by another neighbor. †ђξ boy began to take hard drugs and almost ran Mad. Had to be be kept indoors for a while then flown out of †ђξ country.

Highly important…
*Women, know your. place in creation*
You produce children, you mold them from †ђξ womb. It is not by force to bear children lest you increase †ђξ number of DARK Souls born to this already congested world. You stretch your hand to †ђξ darkness (going to juju man to get a baby or whatever fetish means) and †ђξ child gives you no peace after a while.
Those who have God-given children, you abandon them to †ђξ negative influences of †ђξ society and environment while growing. If you must bare them, then Nurture them and Teach them and bring them us as you want them to be PLEASE

Dedicated to those who have lost their lives before their time for unreasonable causes or suffered somewhat…

Beautiful people» Nigeria@52

I often sit and wonder what happened to Nigeria, why things have turned for †ђξ worse.
†ђξ backwardness of things. Most countries move progressively forward whilst Nigeria is not. Why?
When market women could drop their wares with stones to sell, go home and only return to pick up their money.
Student nurses were paid by †ђξ government and taught properly. Now †hey pay to learn.
Government hospitals were properly equipped and people didn’t have to travel to India for treatment.
Foreigners came to study in Nigerian schools as †ђξ standard was high ranking among †ђξ best.
Roads were good and cars shock absorbers lasted a long time.
People bought new cars and second hand vehicles were rare.
When is was safe for children to play in †ђξ street unattended.
Lagos was one of †ђξ cleanest cities in †ђξ World.
A Dollar was 1:1 with Naira or less.
Politicians considered †ђξ People first.
These same politicians had things working fine when they were younger, why destroy †ђξ good things †ђά̲̣̥† have been built.
Rulers, remembered they were in power to serve.
Tђξ people cared a lot about their Neighbor and not overly selfish.
When parents had time for their children, and children didn’t have to wake at 4am to get to school for 8am.
When children ate proper breakfasts and not fast food.
And †ђξ standard of living was very high.
When there was constant power supply and an announcement was made before power was switched off.
You could store perishable items without fear in †ђξ fridge for long periods.
Coins were respected and valued.
Times when you could buy something of value with .50kbo and get .25kobo change.
Peak milk was less than =N=1.
Children played with sand and built Castles.
When children actually learnt a lot from schools not just about books alone and schools actually existed to Educate and not for making money alone.
When schools believed †ђά̲̣̥† ‘playing’ was part of †ђξ learning process for children, and children’s social studies wasn’t about learning of ‘US’ or ‘UK’.
When children weren’t obsessed with †ђξ internet, Xbox and Ps3 or †ђξ child’s best friend.
And children could still play harmlessly and innocently together.
When children were not vindictive or calculating and friendship meant Love, giving and not selfishness and gain.
When Churches didn’t exist in every nook and cranny and pastors preached without thinking of †ђξ congregations pockets.
When preachers weren’t competing for number of their congregation, latest cars and private jets and some Imams didn’t make moslems look at everyone else as Infidels and preaching ‘Jihad’.
When Boko Haram was unheard of even in your wildest dreams and †ђξ Northern part of Nigeria was a safe and accommodating zone; and you dreamt of ‘tuwo shinkafa’ and ‘Kunu’.
When you weren’t scared of your neighbors gateman saying ‘sanu ku’
Tђξ Police were better Attired, did their job, a little bit respected and and didn’t smell awful.
Police officers or Soldiers didn’t wave guns in your face just to disposess innocent civilians of †ђξ hard earned money( we have never had a proper system in †ђά̲̣̥† regard) there is a major need for restructuring and proper training)

So its Nigeria @52
What has gotten better? Or Nigeria is much WORSE? †ђξ latter seems to me to be †ђξ right option.
†ђξ change from military to democracy rule. (I still feel we were better under the Military in many respects)
Ok maybe, †ђξ GSM instead of going to your neighbor to borrow their land phone.
Well, In 10 people there would be 1Blackberry or Android phone. (Would still have happened anyway, Naija no dey carry last)
Every household uses a generator (I beta pass my neighbor is something, it brings in electricity)
Communities are their own Local government. (Such a shame to †ђξ government)
Landlords contribute to buy †ђξ area transformer. (NEPA/PHCN shame on you, collecting money when is supposed to be free
)You are forced to drill your own bore hole cos waterworks d☺esn’t get to your end.( Such a disgrace, †ђξ government water d☺esn’t get anywhere. Half of †ђξ pipes have burst on †ђξ roads causing major puddles of water across †ђξ streets)
Communities construct their own gutters and roads. (If †ђξ government w☺n’t do it, at least people must drive cars and walk †ђξ streets)
Roads are so bad, you can’t move from point A to B without your car hitting †ђξ ground. Or having to move at snail speed to reduce †ђξ impact of your car hitting †ђξ ground cos it would hit †ђξ ground anyway.
†ђξ ministries have no maintenance culture and d☺n’t even try to repair roads till its impassable. †ђξ people too pour out their dirt into gutters when rain falls. While †ђξ dirt clogs them up and spills to †ђξ roads afterwards.
From =N=11 in †ђξ early ’90s fuel has gone up to =N=110 and counting(military » democracy)
Let me divert a little,
I drove to †ђξ fuel station yesterday( AP in Akute, Ojodu to be precise), and as usual before independence day(same for †ђξ past few years) there was a queue for fuel. News of impending fuel price increase had gotten to every state. †ђξ NUPENG or whatever other association have gone on strike. Everyone taking †ђξ law into their own hands.
There were People with gallons same as me(you just have to buy some or face †ђξ total darkness), cars and motorcycles were at it. Soundsultan’s song ‘no light’ so describes this so well.

Then getting to my turn, †ђξ attendants said each car will pay =N=50 extra over †ђξ =N=110 cost of †ђξ fuel, okada or motorcycle riders =N=30 and people with gallons =N=100. I was shocked, †ђξ meter still read †ђξ old price of =N=97 per litre. H☺w on earth would they say such a thing. Like †ђξ suffering that individual persons were going through in †ђξ country wasn’t enough. To make matters worse, people were begging them consider †ђξ amount, Gosh at this point I was about to slap someone, why give them so much control and power to misbehave when if they were all in unison †ђξ attendants would have no choice. I guess they wanted us to contribute to their families Independence say celebration or say to buy chicken for them selves. Mchew at †ђξ expence of everyone else.
They were of †ђξ opinion †ђά̲̣̥† anyone not comfortable should leave †ђξ place.
I spoke my mind and let them know †ђά̲̣̥† its at †ђξ grass root levels such as theirs †ђά̲̣̥† make this country what it is. There is so much blame on †ђξ government, but let me ask you. What would people like †ђά̲̣̥† do if they had more power in their hands??
†ђά̲̣̥† is †ђξ behavior of †ђξ average person in Nigeria(not everyone. SELFISHNESS!!). Even a security man wants to show he has power before allowing you through †ђξ doors.
Ok d☺n’t ask me what happened afterwards.

Have a restful independence day Nigerians and think about ♓☺w to better †ђξ situation of things.
Thanks for reading. 😀
